Goblins, ghosts, ghouls, oh my! Halloween is around the corner but there is so much to be excited for in October. Pumpkin everything and International Coffee Day just happens to go hand in hand with World Vegetarian Day on the first! Coffee is a bean, after all!.

Fasting 
Fasting is one that I am sure you have all heard of, although it has been around for centuries. It has become very popular as of late in the fitness community. Fasting is good for weight loss for one obvious reason. It decreases the amount of time you have to consume food. A good way to start for beginners is a 16:8 window, so 16 hours fast and 8 hours to consume. I would test out what works best for you personally, but data has shown a 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. consumption window has been very successful.  

Calorie Counting  
Weight loss, in reality, is simple. It is energy in vs. energy out, or calories in vs. calories out. If you click here, this is a calculator that will give you a rough estimate of how many calories and macronutrients (proteins, fats, carbs) you should be eating in a day. My fitness pal is a great app to keep track of your food. 

 

Protein & Veggies  
The final tip is to consume protein and vegetables with every meal. Whatever nutritional plan you choose to go with, the reason for this again is very simple. Vegetables have lots of fiber. This is what keeps you feeling full and protein has the highest level of satiety of any food group. So, if you finish a meal feeling full and satisfied, you shouldn't feel the need to eat until your next meal.
